Paschim Vihar Bengali Association was registered under Societies Act in the year 1983 and the first Durga Puja was celebrated in the same year by the members and residents with their families in and around Paschim Vihar.
PVBA as it is commonly known, thus blossomed and all joined to celebrate Durga Puja, Kali Puja, Saraswati Puja and various other religious and socio-cultural events. To inculcate a sense of competitiveness, these occasions also included various competitions and cultural evenings with continued support of members and their positive approach. With the initiatives taken by many, PVBA was allotted a plot in 1998 to construct a Kali Bari and thus started the active participation of the members and residents to nurture their dreams to have a strong association .
The “Dwar Udghoton” of Kali Bari was performed on 23rd March 2002.
PVBA has since then come a long way and now it is one of the major associations to organise Durga Puja, acknowledged as one of the best puja in Delhi and NCR having received many awards.
Since its inception, the association has taken many initiatives for the welfare of society. It has organised more than 10 Blood Donations Camps besides health mela’s like Physiotherapy Camp, Diabetic Awareness Camp, Eye Camp and Organ Donation Camp etc.
PVBA also runs a Charitable Homeopathic Dispensary, thrice a week at Kali Bari premises.
On the literary front, PVBA has a Library cum Reading Room with more than 6000 books and periodicals in Bengali, English & Hindi. We are glad to mention that this library has one of the largest collection of books in this part of Delhi.
“Arunodoya” – in house magazine came into existence in 2012 for its members & residents to contribute towards their literary skills and awareness. This magazine invites articles from all age group, an initiative to develop skills to write and open up their capabilities.
A much awaited decision was taken to form a Kali Mandir committee to look into the daily puja activities and to monitor and implement better solutions for the efficient performance of the facility and our staff.
To extend a helping hand to our esteemed Senior Citizens, a Help Line has been started with the mobile numbers of few Executive Members, who can be contacted in case of emergency.
PVBA continues to encourage young stars by organizing music competition on yearly basis to identify talents through competitions.
PVBA extends its gratitude to the Senior Citizens for their contribution towards the growth of the association. Open house discussion with Senior Citizens and executive members of the management makes the association aware of good governance. Such meetings also initiates us to serve these Senior Citizens for their well being.
PVBA with their initiative continues to strive and move ahead to create a bond among its members & residents.
We convey our gratitude to all members, patrons, associates, residents and well wishers for their generous support and contribution for the growth of PVBA.
